Help me give my students these books by Black Authors during Black History month to help them discover their unique talents or their superpowers. For the past two years, many of my students complain about not having books.

My Students
“Failure is not an option for my students as long as I am a TEACHER.” - My Students are accustomed to broken promises and disappointment from adults in our city. My students live in an area that was devastated by Civil Unrest and COVID-19. However, the majority of my students continue to demonstrate resilience during these challenges. Additionally, a large percentage of my students are reading two and three grade levels behind, to interest them in reading they have to be exposed to relevant text. I want to provide my students with a variety of text and materials that are both culturally relevant and will pique their interests.
My Project
Although I've witnessed my students juggle so much this academic school year, they are success-driven. Reading helps them connect and relate to characters that look like them and or maybe experiencing similar challenges. When my students make real-world connections to the text it helps me better assess their level of understanding. Securing these books will keep my already enthusiastic readers engaged and will raise curiosity in my reluctant readers. These books will instill hope in my students during Black History Month and beyond. Thanks so much for your investment in literacy.
