My Students

My classroom is made up of 22 incredibly special third graders. My students have bodies full of energy that support their love for exploring new ideas, learning new information, and being creative. My students come from a variety of different backgrounds, and for some, my classroom library is their only access to books. My students love exploring books by particular authors like Patricia Polacco, learning new information through informational texts, and crave the newest of popular book titles like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, DogMan, Puppy Place, and I Survived (just to name a few!).

My students' desire to get the next book in their hands is a desire and love for reading that I want to be able to continue to support!

As an elementary teacher, I know the importance of reading and fostering a love for reading at this age. I recognize that in order to promote reading growth, students should be reading texts that are of high interest to them. As their teacher, my hope is to be able to continue to provide quality texts that support their interests and help continue to grow them into successful readers.

My Project

Reading is essential to a child's education. Through reading, students are able to fall in love with an author, learn new things about a variety of topics, and build their vocabulary knowledge. Tapping into a child's interests helps hook a child and develop a love for reading.

My students are more likely to engage in reading when they are reading a book that they want to read not just have to read.

By getting to know my students and being aware of the popular titles that are available to our students, I recognize a gap in my classroom library. The books on this list will help fill the gap in my classroom library. Your donations will help me provide the students in my classroom the books that they desire and want to be reading.
