Finding Inspiration and Motivation, Ron Clark Style
I need to attend the Ron Clark Academy to learn student engagement strategies to build a stronger classroom environment and strengthen the culture at my school.
"Going Above and Beyond" is the expectation and the goal for everyone in my classroom, including the teacher! We strive every day, on every project, on every assignment, in our behavior and work habits to epitomize this statement. Working cooperatively is a huge part of this goal.
My classroom is filled each day with twenty-two fourth graders exhibiting a full range of reading and math abilities.
The classroom is full of activity as we fill every minute working toward academic excellence, and trying to have fun at the same time. Our school is a small STEM magnet school drawing students from a large area so they come from many different cultures and socioeconomic levels.
My Project
Engaging this generation’s students is more challenging than ever. Having recently learned more about the Ron Clark Academy and its success at inspiring and motivating both students and educators, I want to visit the academy to see their strategies in action. Being a lifelong learner, I want to add more to my toolbox. I heard from a fellow educator that every teacher should visit the Ron Clark Academy once in their career, and I want this year to be my time.
Engaged students learn more, therefore I need to be a master of engagement.
After visiting the academy, I want to return to my school with tried and true strategies to implement in my classroom, and share with my colleagues. I want to see my students eager to learn, which will result in greater achievement levels. My goal is to inspire a culture within the classroom of 100% engagement. This goal will benefit us all and be infectious throughout the culture of our school.
