Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a New York City Department of Education teacher in the Bronx, I have witnessed my students of all ages, year after year, facing several obstacles that occur both in and out of the school environment. Even though they are faced with many obstacles at such an early age, my students try their best to overcome their hardships with a positive mindset. They arrive at school every morning with motivation and eagerness. They then leave with a strong sense of gratitude because of the education and opportunity that they have received.

I work in a large, Title I school with a very high population of either low income-high poverty residents or English Language Learners.

In the majority of cases, it is both. It is my goal to uplift my students in several aspects, which include their mental, emotional, social, and academic state.

My Project

This reading kit will provide a fun and engaging way for students to use text evidence to support their thinking as they determine the main idea, make inferences, identify the author's point of view, and more!

These reading cards will provide a fun and engaging way to practice the skills we are working on in the classroom.

These cards can be used whole group, small groups, and even partner pairs. These cards are a wonderful resource to help students problem solve, develop strategies, practice team building skills, and persevere through challenging tasks.

These cards will increase student engagement and reinforce the skills and concepts they are learning. The cards allow for differentiation, so all students can participate and be successful while playing. Thank you for your consideration in funding this project!
