I teach in a Title I elementary school in San Leandro. It is a very diverse school filled with students of all backgrounds. My 400 students come to school eager to learn and are excited to try new things. This year however, we are jumping into school in a virtual learning situation. Although, our students are at home they connect with us every day using a variety of online platforms.
While struggling with the challenging outside world our students show up every day ready to learn.
They are welcomed by an amazing team of educators ready to teach them and give them the support they need to experience success.
My Project
In these challenging times my students are struggling with ways to cope. This project will help them through mindfulness, meditation, breathing and yoga techniques. Such instruction will help students learn the strategies and valuable tools to help them manage their daily lives. Further, students will gain self confidence and enhanced self-esteem as they gain mastery with these skills.
Mats will be used daily to help students develop mindfulness skills.
Students will experience increase calmness, physical well-being and positive moods. The activities taught using these mats will also improve our students academic performance by helping them with emotional regulation.
