This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Jambo Prek", I say to my students to start off our day. They excitedly reply, "jambo!" Every week we say hello in a new language and learn a little about that language and culture. My students come from very diverse backgrounds, countries and cultures and love to share within these group discussions.
The vast majority of our school receives free meals and Title I services.
The students in my school come from very culturally diverse backgrounds, speak many different languages and are learning to work together. We are more alike than we are different. The Prek curriculum gives them many opportunities to learn through play and a hands-on approach.
My Project
Pre-K kids are learning how to express themselves. Oftentimes they feel an emotion, but can't name it and don't know how to regulate it. Working on their vocabulary and facial recognition of feelings helps them to make sense of their world and the people in it.
With these feelings dolls, puzzles and books, my students will be able to learn about the big feelings that affect them everyday.
The materials will help them identify which emotions they are feeling and how to deal with them in a productive way.
By fostering the social emotional, students can experience personal and academic success.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
