This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The 19 students in my class are determined learners. They are a group with a kaleidoscope of personalities and backgrounds. I have 5 English Language Learners in my class and 2 diverse learners.
Coming to school is an exciting event for them.
Our classroom is a safe and fun place where they can be themselves and grow.
My Project
Who doesn't enjoy a comfy spot to read? My students normally sit on the floor in our library, but they ALL rush to get to the only two chairs there when it's their turn to visit. They love the colors and the feeling of sitting in that special chair just like they do at their local library. Sitting in these chairs in our library will encourage their interest and love for reading.
Having somewhere comfortable to sit will add to the excitement of being in our class library and getting to find that good book to read...a place where they can embark on imaginary trips to outer space and the Wonders of the World.
Many of my students do not have library cards nor do they visit the library as they should. Developing a love for books and reading is essential to becoming life-long learners.
