My Students

I work with a very diverse group of students who live in a residential treatment facility. These students are high risk students who have dealt with extreme life situations. They will most likely be out in the world on their own at 18. Most have not had the support needed to understand finances. I feel it is my job to teach them and send them out into the world knowing how to financially support themselves.

My Project

The materials in this kit will be used to help high risk students learn how to support themselves by being financially literate and responsible citizens. It will teach them important financial fundamentals and provide them with life skills math they have likely not been taught. These students will likely be living on their own at a young age without a lot of support. This program and the corresponding lesson plan could help them go out into the world and be successful and productive citizens who understand the importance of being financially literate.
