My Students

A good financial plan is a road map that shows us exactly how the choices we make today will affect our future. Alexa Von Tobel. It is never too early to learn the value of earning and saving for the future.

I work in a Title I school with about 98% of the students on free and reduced lunch.

Most of my students are learning English as a second language. They are sweet and eager to learn, but they do not have basic background knowledge in most areas. Most of their families have barely enough for basic needs to be met. They need to learn how to count and use money as a life skill.

My Project

My students will create and design their own money. They will be able to print it out and copy it. They will have to earn this money through hard work. They will be able to buy classroom privileges such as sitting on one of a hokki stools for a day. They will be able to purchase classroom supplies or a trip to the treasure box. This project will have them working together to create a product. They will learn how to save for what they would like to obtain for themselves. This will help them in school and in life.

This project will give us the supplies that we need to make our classroom economy a reality.

This project will motivate the students to make good choices. If they make good choices in their education, they earn money and can buy goods or services. This project will also teach them badly needed life skills.
