Financial Literacy Through the Stock Market Game

Help me give my students the chance to learn about using the stock market as an investment tool. The will learn to talk the talk and understand risk, research, and the money language at an early age.

My Students

The students in our GATE Program are hard workers who enjoy a good challenge. Despite the hardships many of them face at home they come to school with a willing attitude and a positive outlook. Sometimes students that are gifted are overlooked when it comes to meeting their unique needs both in academic and social/emotional areas. Each students brings unique talents, as well as, needs.

The students enjoy researching, working together and learning about the world around them.

Providing them with the chance to learn about things that they might not other wise experience is very important. Coming from a very poor rural area limits the life experiences. I want to be able to help them overcome and break the cycle of poverty by learning about careers, the stock market, college scholarships and many more life altering lessons.

My Project

The Stock Market Game is a valuable tool for teaching students about how to invest, research and take risk with money. This allows students to gain an understanding of what the Stock Market does and how it benefits people within all financial means. It is a short term, real time simulation competition, that students will use to learn problem-solving strategies.

It builds their math fluency and a real world understanding of economics.

Students will learn that worlds events affect the stock market through their research. It really offers them a global perspective of how they are a part of something bigger.
