This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I would like to give my students the opportunity to learn real-world skills and make meaningful mathematic connections.
We are striving every day to become better than we were yesterday.
They have a lot of challenges, but they continue to be hard-working, creative, and determined. Our school has a very high poverty rate, almost 80%, and a high English Language learner population.
This project would allow me to implement a classroom economy. My students will have jobs where they will earn classroom dollars. This will give them the opportunity to learn about budgeting, saving money, and making good choices about how to spend money. While learning these financial literacy lessons, they will also get to practice their mathematical skills while also learning how to be responsible classroom citizens. I know this project will improve behavior, classroom ownership, and be part of our social-emotional learning lessons.
