My Project
My students love drawing, painting, and creating different forms of art projects with their peers. In previous years, I have exposed them to oil painting, clay sculpting, and paper cutting.
This year, I hope to combine art with Financial Literacy to help students expand their artistic imagination while also learning about money both within and beyond our classroom.
First, students will generate a savings and spending plan in class. Then, they will brainstorm ideas for how they could increase their allowance, such as recycling plastic bottles or participating in chores at home regularly. Next, they will design a poster of their plan using classroom supplies such as cardstock paper, magnets, and our pencil dispenser for easy access to materials. By the end of the day, students will take their financial literacy plan home to share with their parents.
Learning financial literacy at an early age will help lay the foundation for money management skills, life skills, and setting financial goals—both now and in the future!
