Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are housed in what is considered the most restrictive environment due to their special needs.

Learning hands-on with real world experiences has a lasting effect.

We have a classroom store where students earn and can spend their “classroom bucks” they have earned by completing assignments and exhibiting positive behaviors. The students have changed the name of the classroom bucks to “Fig Bucks,” after my name.

The students learn inventory skills by sorting snacks and counting what is left. They will also take data on the most preferred snacks, as well as what snacks are not favored.

The snack-cakes, juices, candies and chips will cost each student five Fig Bucks. The students have the choice to save their earned Fig Bucks for a big ticket item, or buy a snack when the store is opened, which is every Friday, at the end of the day.
