Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need to learn how to manage their money, how to budget, and how to save. My students need to become experts in number sense to be able to understand and carry out their personal finances. We need these materials to use at our math centers.

My students are enthusiastic learners and are beginning to understand and appreciate their environment and the world they live in.

They enjoy hands-on activities and counting money. They appreciate anything that is donated to our class. They enjoy learning to count money and are proud of being able to use it to purchase things.

My Project

My students need Neighborhood Jobs Math Kit to have hands on practice with having a business. They need the Math activity stations to connect math and literacy. The money counting games will help them gain speed with counting money. The Count It Up! Money rods includes a variety of games to help my students gain number sense. Number sense is necessary in order for them to know how to budget and count their money.

My project is very important because my students need to master the basic skills such as adding and subtracting, in order to understand finances.

The hands-on activities I am requesting will be used at our math centers. They will help them learn about money, saving and spending. Financial literacy is a must for all second graders to master common core standards.
