Financial Literacy for 5th Grade

Help me give my students needed resources to learn about financial literacy. With the Managing My Allowance Money Game, students will have a real world connection to managing their finances. This game will make finances more relevant.

My Project

Students in my class are eager to learn, and often tell me about how they spend and earn their allowances. They are excited to share their stories, and I love hearing them. However, they often tell me about how they spend their money on candy or other senseless items. They regularly tell me how they wish they had saved some allowance to purchase a much wanted toy, or other special items.

This financial literacy project will help students understand the value of saving money for a larger or more impactful purchase.

Many of my students come from low-income households and teaching them how they can save for larger purchases will help prepare them for a bright future. These children excited to learn about finances and love talking about their future successes. I would love to provide them with the tools and information to be financially adults for the future.
