Financial Literacy: A Brain-Based Learning Class All Families Need! #2
Help me give my students challenging Integers learning activities by providing them with a financial literacy game, personal finance doodle notes, and more.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At-Home Learning through e-Classrooms and a Virtual Google Meets 90 mins each class ALL DAY has hit these young students and me quite a bit differently than others dealing with COVID-19. As I approach the 2nd Semester of Distant Virtual @ Home Learning and Working at a G.L.O.B.A.L. school I need to provide these young developing minds with ALL resources they should have and are unfortunately still do not have full access with testing just around the corner.
My students are 99% English Language Learners and ALL receive Free lunch.
They took their exams in their 1st language and now everything is in English and they are struggling readers that are compassionate and caring. Just issuing each a personal copy of Hidden Figures from another project had their eyes illuminated with excitement.
They are remaining at home to ensure their safety and longevity of life while trying to be educated through this pandemic at a crucial year of life 7th-grade. The Summer Programs for the district offered so much for the students, yet there has been ZERO support at all for the materials to be available to the students at home and allow them to achieve the same level of success.
My Project
This project was created exclusively to support the teachings of financial literacy in the classroom. Being forced to teach what is on the test and questioned more than 2x's is a hindrance to teaching the one class we ALL need and NEVER get an opportunity to take in school.
Charles Schwab's belief that financial education can open doors and change lives aligns solely with my PASSION for Financial Literacy Education for ALL of my students and their families.
This collection was designed for students just like mine and uses financial, math-based games to promote real-world math skills. Having access to multiple copies of certain games will allow my teachings to continue to promote safety protocols during the COVID pandemic and provide multiple students and their families an opportunity to playing and learning at home and expanding Financial Literacy with their families during this Pandemic. In an effort to also encourage family time together and a weekly Game Night, I AM hopeful this project repeated will help me to get the Pay Day Board Game into the hands and homes of ALL of my students and their families.
Having access to this GREAT opportunity by Charles Schwab and DonorsChoose, they have built a program that directly supports my financial education projects for COVID year 2020-2021. This project as my others is helping by championing me to offer my students the financial knowledge, behaviors, and confidence they need to thrive.
