My Students

My students are a bright and busy group. We are from a small town with limited resources. Because of budget restraints we have gone to a four day week. While the change has been fun and well received, we still have many things to do.

I want to make sure my students are ready for the world.

I want to introduce my students to as many authors as possible. In order to do that my shelves need to be more diverse. I want to add "Just Mercy" in order to start that process. ALL of my students deserve to be represented in the literature in their classrooms and the plan is to make that happen!

My Project

My class bookshelf needs refreshed! We've got many wonderful titles on our shelves, but their authors have many of the same traits. I want to help my students branch out with new, rich literature. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the classics, but I want my class and our books to be relevant and to reflect the world they are currently living in. All of our kids need to see authors on our shelves that represent them not just a portion of them. My students will be able to take these books home to read if learning from home begins!
