This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a gifted teacher, instructional coach, club teacher, a wearer of many hats! We service over 550 AMAZING students, 50 of those who qualify for social and emotional services through their identification of gifted, sped, autistic, ED, etc. Academics are such a big focus in school, but here at Valley View, we know how much the "WHOLE CHILD" matters! We want to teach our kiddos social skills. You can help!

My Project

We have a strong and committed population of English language learners in our school and community.

Our students work so hard to learn English, knowing that this is the key to their success in life!

We support our students, not just in learning English, but use novels (such as these) as ways to support their new learning knowing that their first language is an asset!

The novels we selected will also provide some trials and tribulations that they can identify with. Not just because of the features (like Spanish to English connection) but also some of the cultural relevancy these texts provide to their readers.

Help us teach our kids to not only read but to love to read!
