Final Countdown - Class Set of Robots

My Students

Our inner city students come from various backgrounds, where English is not always their native language. They come into school wanting to learn and work hard because school is the safest place for a lot of them. We are a Title 1 school where we receive 100% free breakfast and lunch for our students.

When they enter my Discovery Lab, the excitement builds because they know they have challenges they need to face like engineers, scientists, and many other professionals do in the real world. Students love working with their hands to create something or to solve a problem. Our school is a wonderful place to learn because of the environment created by the staff. We show our love of learning to help foster that in our students.

My Project

Over the last two years, Donor's Choose has helped my classroom get 10 robots. Our class sizes have increased yearly and now I need two more Dash Robots to make sure every student has a chance to program a robot.

Students in grades K-5 will have the ability to not only learn to program Dash, but will have a chance to complete challenges that push their problem solving skills to the next level.

When students work in pairs, it's exciting to see that one student who may excel in coding learns how to figure out and problem solve from their partner and vise versa. The students this year will also take part in the Wonder Workshop Robotics Challenge!
