This project is fully funded

Reading allows students to connect with characters and authors who have similar and different life experiences. I am a 5th grade teacher at an inner city, title one, high-needs elementary school.

I am a first year teacher so I do not have many of the literature resources available that I would like to have. My students need group sets of books to read.

I am requesting six copies of each book so that my students can participate in literature circles. The books that I have selected are at the top of the list for great reads for 5th graders. These books will also go along with the social studies curriculum this year. In accordance with the GPS my students will need to read a variety of text so this will assist them in that endeavor.

Your donation will make it possible for my students to appreciate reading,and work cooperatively with their peers. Reading is truly fundamental. The students in this class will really benefit from the novels I have selected for the literature circles.
