Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at a school where the majority of my students come from low-income households. With that being said, I want to start a pantry for my students. Your big-hearted donation will allow my students to show compassion by supporting other students who are experiencing food insecurity.

School is not only learning about academics, but learning how to treat others when they need a helping hand.

Many people are very fortunate to not know what it means to have food insecurity. It is not easy to ask for help, but by showing compassion, my students will be able to demonstrate compassion while helping other students to have their basic needs met. The items I am requesting are nutritious grab and go items such as protein shakes. I have found that helping others is a win-win situation. People feel good about helping others, and the people helped feel good about having a basic need met. By having compassion, my students are learning an important life lesson while giving others a helping hand. At the end of this, student success will be measured by asking if students they can define compassion. I will also encourage them to continue to serve our school and community!
