Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are some of the most inspirational people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Over my two years of teaching, my students have shown what it means to be brave, try new things, and step out of one's comfort zone, all in the name of learning something new. I have taught students from every grade level at my school but this coming year, I will be teaching primarily seniors and juniors. I love teaching in general but this group especially has shown resilience and grit that takes our entire grade school careers to develop.
Calculus and Statistics are usually subjects that make someone cringe by simply hearing their names, but through meaningful dialogue and hands-on activities, we are actually able to have fun in math class.
This year will be exciting for most of my students being that it is the finale to most of their grade school careers. While that usually is exciting, the coronavirus pandemic has made it difficult for myself and many other teachers to provide the same experience that students are accustomed to. With your help, I can attempt to keep the most important part of my classroom stable: having fun.
My Project
Students love to interact with math when they can actively interact with the topics. The materials that are present within this project will help students to have a meaningful experience in my classroom.
Every student learns differently and these materials will help everyone to have an opportunity to access the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed.
The headsets will allow students who miss lessons to catch up while not being distracted by the current lesson. The snacks will allow for students to maintain energy throughout the day and not become fatigued by a late lunch period. A printer in the classroom will be game-changing for students and me so that class time can be preserved when more copies need to be made. Finally, the AP prep books will allow students to further their readiness for standardized exams, given that not all instruction will be live and in person.
