Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Right now more than ever, the kids are in need. It has been a struggle for my students to get the things that they need, because of a lack of resources. My school is a Title I school, were nearly 99% are considered at-risk. Those students were dependent on the food that the schools provided for breakfast, lunch and after school snack. Since we have been out of the school building for over 2 months, those needs are not being met. I would like to try and fill part of the void that those students are facing.
Currently, I try to give the best to my students.
We don't have the books to read, so we are struggling to access online books. Many households have been effected beyond measure with just trying to provide the basic needs of food. Daily I try to give my students that escape from all that is going on around them with some type of interactive activity.
My Project
I can only imagine the looks on their little faces if this project is funded. Being able to deliver some things to them that they have been without since March 12th, would be a dream come true.
I know many of them looked to the school building for that constant and foundation that has quickly been disrupted.
Being able to provide them with snacks and books, would be a gift. Even though we are not at the school, it is still my duty and obligation to provide them with things they need to continue to be successful.
