My Students
My students are creative, dedicated, fun, and pregnant/parenting!
These kiddos have kiddos of their own, and are learning to navigate parenthood while getting their high school diploma!
They love being able to come to school each day and have a safe and welcoming environment to learn in. We love to celebrate our accomplishments and learn from our mistakes.
Many of my students do not have access to technology or school supplies at home.
I want to help provide them with a space where they can laugh and learn together (both online at in the building).
My Project
Our students are young people that have had challenges of their own, often unlike your 'average teenager'. We want to provide a library that helps students find characters that relate to their experiences, as well as reveal new perspectives.
We strive to give our students community as well as the opportunity to empathize, and texts are a great resource for learning!
With these books, we can shed a light on many real world challenges, and also help students feel less alone. We hope that our selection of texts, as well as the text recommendations from students, will show them how powerful reading can be!
