My Students
My students are excellent scholars. They have all grown up on a Native American reservation. For some of them, the reservation is all they have known. Each student travels no less than 15 miles to get to school every day. Some students travel down dirt roads to reach their bus stop.
For my students, literature is the best way to not only explore their imagination, but places around the world.
These books will expand their horizons and take them places they would never think was possible.
My Project
I am a second year teacher going into my first year teaching fifth grade. Most of the books I own are for k-2 readers and will not help my fifth grade students grow. There are books in my classroom that have been donated by a retired teacher, but the books donated are not high interest.
My students deserve every possible avenue into exploring their imagination and becoming bibliophiles.
It is vital that they can get their hands on as many books as possible because of their growing interest. To keep students interested in loving books, they will need more books to do so.
