My Project
Our students with severe/profound disabilities have been out of the classroom for several years due to COVID-19 and school shut-downs. This has affected their social development; and prevented them from having the learning experiences that they need to succeed in school.
Students with severe disabilities require many opportunities to explore hands-on manipulatives.
These activities help them build so many skills which are necessary in developing academic readiness. Your generosity would help us build a varied supply for them to choose from. Many of these activities will also help improve fine and gross motor skills.
The swivel chair will give sensory stimulation to students with autism to help calm them or stimulate the balance system. The tap lights will be able to simulate the senses, give tactile and visual feedback, and promote engagement in learning activities. The play centers will be integral in helping to develop social skills, increase independence and self-confidence, as well as developing physical skills.
