My students need 30+ books and information on how to continue to be "bucket fillers."

My Students
It is no surprise to anyone that middle school students can be mean. To combat the issue of bullying, my classroom has decided to become "bucket fillers." This means that students make an effort to practice kindness and fill out compliment slips on our "Fill a Bucket" bulletin board.
I teach a diverse group of 7th graders from urban, suburban, and rural areas in our PA public school.
In our classroom, students are also mixed ability levels. We have students who are classified as gifted, regular education, and special education. However, I believe that we can all come together and form a very special learning community.
My Project
These novels about tough topics and nonfiction anti-bullying books will help our classroom discuss and stop bullying. These books will also teach us how to be friends and how to successfully survive the difficult middle school years. We will read some of these books aloud. Other books could be checked out by students and read at home. All of these books will open up a conversation of how we can all get along and help each other.
Please take the time to help us see past our differences and learn to be kind.
It is not easy to get along with someone we "don't like." However, I know that these books will help us continue our work of stopping bullying and creating a community of learners. We will read and appreciate every book that you donate to our classroom.
