My Project
My students with autism have unique needs with learning, social skills, and communication. As a teacher, I think its so important to work as a team with our families! Communication is key as we work together to teach and learn from each other to best support each child. Some of my students have strong interests and fascinations that I try to use as tools in my teaching. Communication is a huge goal as we learn to talk, listen, and engage in classroom conversations. In our classroom, students are given choices to give them a feeling of control in their lives, but also to give an opportunity to learn about themselves as workers and learners. Writing can be a major source of tension and struggle for students with autism so we offer alternatives at times. While some students with autism are ultra-organized, others need support to find materials and keep areas neat. Activities that provide visual structure and repeated practice on skills and concepts to allow for mastery or maintenance of matching skills, as well as social and executive functioning skills.
File folder activities for special education and autism classrooms are perfect for independent work stations.
Practice basic concepts, life skills, alphabet and more with these differentiated file folder games. Includes heavy visual emphasis and multiple levels to meet the needs of every student in your class. File Folder Activities are self-contained tasks; Our students love them; They can be easily changed out with mastery; They capitalize on visual strengths. Thank you for helping our class implement these activities!
