My Students

My students, in the heart of Central Florida, are busy little bees who have a passion for learning and an endless willingness to explore and expand their knowledge.

Full of enthusiasm and wonder, they are eager, creative, thoughtful and full of questions!

They come with mixed interests, abilities, and goals, but all share the love of learning. They are motivated and ready to soar to their maximum potentials. Through hard work and dedication they are always striving to reach their goals.

My Project

Using figurative language is an effective way of communicating an idea that is not easily understood because of its abstract nature or complexity. It helps the students get a clearer picture of what's happening, and they can also be used to convince them of something, or they can be used to simply entertain the reader. Some common types of figurative language are: simile, metaphor, and personification.

The series of Amelia Bedelia books is a fun way to accomplish the primary function of figurative language which is to force readers to imagine what a writer wants to express.

Figurative language is used to draw the reader into the story quickly and keep them hooked on the joy of reading.
