We have had a trying last few years. We are working hard to make great leaps and bounds and get students caught up after the pandemic shut things down and hurt student achievement.
We have made tremendous progress this school year.
However, students are coming to school with less resources and they are further behind. These resources will help students to not worry about supplies and will allow them to grow and raise their reading levels. The books will help students grow with their Lexile levels and with their empathy. The 30 sec Dance Party buttons will help motivate students engagment and help reward students. The supplies I have asked for will help students not feel they are different from other students with the correct supplies. The standing desk and small table will create extra sitting in my classroom and allow me to get rid of two large pieces of furniture that take up precious space. The plickers cards, laminating puches, and dryerase are to help student engagement and reading activities without paper and pencil. Finally, the stretchy key chains are for students to use to help with anxiety and the inspirational bracelets will be used to help motivate students and to help students believe in themselves.
My goal is to help students grow as much as possible in reading. When students have high reading scores, it makes all subjects a bit easier. Most students see a growth of 100 points in their Lexile (a way to measure reading levels), however most of my students are seeing much more growth. That is a trend I want to continue in my ELA classes and these supplies and hard work will ensure that.
Our students are reslient and they are working hard! Our studens are fighting back and soaring!
