Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Cells? What are cells? These are the questions my students ask. My students are learning middle school concepts in an elementary setting without the use of microscopes and prepared slides.
My students are eager to learn and come to school everyday expecting a new challenge and new topics.
These students are in a gifted and talented class and work one to two years ahead of their assigned grade level curriculum. This often creates a problem in obtaining the proper supplies needed to help teach such advanced topics. The students attend a public school in North Texas and live a city life.
My Project
I am requesting a set of twelve student microscopes with 60X, 80X, and 100X magnification levels. The microscopes are basic yet will still allow my students to view prepared slides. The slides I am requesting include plants, insects, vegetables, and animals. With these materials my students will better understand what cells are and what makes up a cell.
These materials will make such a difference in teaching microbiology to my students this year as well as in the years to come.
The students will benefit by being more prepared for the next grade level.
