Fiesta! Learning About Cinco de Mayo and the Hispanic Culture

Help me give my students fun treats to try like Takis, Chili Lollipops, and items that include stickers, keychains, straws, and a piñata to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in our classroom!

My Project

Throughout the school year, we have been learning about different cultures. Several of my students are Hispanic and I would love to give them the opportunity to share their culture through various activities.

Diversity is in our daily lives which means that students need to learn and experience different cultures and traditions to help students better understand each other.

It also assists in helping students grow as they discover the different ways that people live, work and play. My students are always happy to celebrate their culture and share family traditions in the classroom.

Additionally on this day, we will celebrate Cinco de Mayo by learning how to do the Mexican Hat Dance and experience music by listening to a Mariachi Band. We will also be creating our own maracas.

No fiesta is a fiesta in Hispanic culture without a piñata! Piñatas are more than colorful decorations. In Hispanic culture, they symbolize joy, unity, and the essence of celebration. The party supplies along with the bags will assisting in collecting all our fun winnings. With all this learning we need some fun snacks like Takis and chili lollipops to replenish our energy and learning power.
