Field Trip: Palm Springs Dance Festival

My Students

My dance classes are my favorite classes to teach because my students are motivated and they really seek to push themselves to the limit. They are a talented bunch of creative young people who inspire me every day.

They have an incredible ability to soak up choreography like a sponge and their group dynamic is very caring and compassionate.

My students are eager learners who are diverse culturally and socioeconomically.

Our school is a college preparatory high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is highly demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated as a low socioeconomic status, and we are deemed a Title I school.

My Project

My students thrive in real-world experiences that support the learning they are doing in the classroom. Attending the Palm Springs Dance Festival will be an educational and enriching experience. This project covers the cost of admission to this dance festival. My students will have the opportunity to take a total of three master classes, as well as attend an Educational Performance that is geared directly for them.

By attending this dance festival, my students will get to take dance classes from professional dancers who are working in the industry.

My students will also be immersed in the dance culture of a dance festival.

This field trip will not only be valuable for their dancing technique, but it will also inform other areas of their learning such as working in a team environment, problem solving, finding new ways to move, and being surrounded by other people who love dance just like they do. What a fantastic opportunity for my students!
