Fidgety Fun Graphic Novels!

Help me give my students an exciting array of graphic novels and sensory fidget toys to help focus

My Project

Students in my library love borrowing their favorite authors and they get hooked on a fun reading series. I want to give them the joy of immersing themselves in a whole other world of unicorns or witches or The Babysitter's Club. Students strengthen their reading skills and connection to characters and stories through series books.

As the school's librarian, it's my honor, duty and joy to help students start a reading addiction.

I want students to be as insatiable for books as I am, and to treasure every minute they spend in our library. Thanks for helping my students embrace the impact of beautiful graphic novels while offering them sensory tools to welcome them into our space. I offer students toys when they step into the library so they know the librarian is playful and speaks their language.

There is a book for everyone! Fidget toys can help settle children's active minds and calm their restless energy. We can also connect through toys and game. After children have a chance to talk, share stories of their lives, and play with toys, they can dive into the wonders of graphic novels!

Our library is a warm and vibrant hub in Harlem, New York. We embrace graphic novels and other newer and innovative art forms. Murals outside the school celebrate the accomplishments of renowned authors such as Zora Neale Hurston, Claude McKay, Langston Hughes, and the school's namesake orator and leader, Sojourner Truth, a fierce advocate for literacy. At our school, we want the library to be a haven, an inspiration, and a launchpad for academic excellence.
