My Project
My preschool classroom is a sanctuary for my little learners. I want it to be a more sensory friendly space and help them be more comfortable expressing their feelings and understanding the WHY to how they are feeling. The Spot On book series and plushies will do a great job of helping them learn and understand not just emotions they may experience but also start the beginning of virtue lessons. Unfortunately, many of my little learners have never had emotions explained and what may be an appropriate response.
All of the fidgets requested will be used in a calming corner or as a conversation starter, as students usually needs something in their hands to open up to discuss hard feelings or concerns, as well as helping those fine motor skills!
I have also requested gel based pads for tracing letters and numbers as it is a great alternative to basic pen and pencil.
In a world where children are handed technology to babysit, it often creates children who are sensitive to different textures, who struggle with understanding common emotions and proper ways to deal and shy more reclusive children because of it. I want my classroom to help them GROW to be able to overcome these restrictions!
