Fidgets & Fuzzies!

My students need fidget toys to help them concentrate when they are learning. They also need the pillows for our reading corner, to make our classroom feel more comfy and cozy!

My Students

This year, I am working with a great bunch of 1st graders! In my class, I have 27 of the brightest and best (at least I think so)! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.

My students and I have created a safe, engaging, home-like environment for us to learn and grow together.

We will use this time together for not only them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.

That's where DonorChoose.org comes in. My students are from Detroit. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well established schools have.

My Project

I teach a great group of first graders! But being only 6 & 7 years old, they still need to move a lot! Having the fidget toys for them to play with while they are working will help not only with their wiggles, but also to keep their hands to themselves while they are working!

I want my classroom to be like a second home to these children.

Having comfortable pillows to lay down on while they are reading will help that happen. The children will be able to take turns during independent reading time to use a pillow. When children are comfortable, they are also more focused at the task at hand.
