Help me give my students lots of fun activities to help them learn! This includes their favorite fidgets like pop-its and fidget spinners to use while working, rewards to motivate them, and some fun learning games!
I currently see 25 energetic special education kiddos ranging from Kindergarten to second grade. I am a Special Education Resource teacher, so I pull kiddos who need extra help with reading, math, writing, and behaviors. My students come to school happy and full of energy each day! They dream about being teachers, superheroes, and veterinarians.
However, my students have a lot of challenges to overcome.
Most come from low income homes. Some of them have been in school since they were three because of speech delays or other disabilities. A lot of my students have behavior issues or ADHD and need a place to calm down and get their brain ready to learn. On top of all that, COVID has greatly impacted my students. A lot of them were not able to participate in distance learning because their parents were working and so now they are even more behind.
My Project
The students I work with all have special needs that can include emotional issues as well as ADHD and autism. They often need fidgets/sensory activities and rewards to help them calm down and focus on their learning. Students often will come to my room when they need a break from their classroom or will even complete their grade level work to come to play with slime or fidgets for a few minutes!
My students were already behind academically, but with all the missed instruction from COVID, they need all the instruction they can get.
These sensory and calm down activities, learning games, and rewards will help my students to be more focused, motivated and successful in their classrooms when working on grade level standards and also in my room when working on their individual goals.

I have 11 kindergartners on my caseload this year that missed instruction in preschool because of COVID and were not able to access distance learning due to their disabilities, so I requested some alphabet and counting activities that will help them with grade level standards K.CC.A.1 and RF.K.1. They also have difficulty holding a pencil and need fine motor activities and pencil grips to help with their writing W.K.1.
