My Students

I teach an amazing group of students in the promise zone of the West Philadelphia area. I'm so privileged to teach a mixture of students. I teach students who have learning disabilities who are just learning how to read as well as gifted students who all love to read. I love their enthusiasm when it's time to read and listening to the conversations that they have while reading. They also love being hands-on and being able to conduct different science experience and play math games. The joy that comes from watching one of your struggling students pick up on something and being involved is always a plus. They are a very talented bunch and are rising to the academic challenges that I place before them every day, as well as demonstrating their talents in other extracurricular activities such as art, music, and dance. They have worked really hard everyday and have overcome a lot over the last two years.

My Project

With teaching an inclusive classroom and coming back to school full time next year with the possibility of still wearing mask and being very stationary within our classroom and some students need an outlet. With sitting in one spot all day the get fidgety and having access to fidgets will help my students stay focused during their lessons While reading a book they can utilize the foot bands and when they are doing math they can use the pop its if they get frustrated while working. When we do have down time they can also use them but even better having a card game that everyone can interact with while being stationary is a plus when a much needed brain break is in order. School is a place of learning and being able to calm down or manage any anxieties that my students have will help them become better learners.
