Fidget Till You Focus

My students need Bouncy Bands and Wobble stools as ways to get their energy out, while sitting in class, so that they can focus on the lesson.

My Students

This is going to be my 3rd year working with this amazing group of kids. I started teaching them when they were in 6th grade and we will be entering the 8th grade together this September.

Every single day, they amaze me with their inteligence, creativity and humor.

I may have been put in the classroom to teach them but I learn from them on a daily basis. They push me to be my best because that's what they deserve.

My Project

My students spend the majority of their six and a half hour school day sitting behind desks. This can become difficult and uncomfortable for 13 and 14 year olds, who are full of energy. My goal is to give my students quiet ways to fidget and get their energy out while sitting in the classroom. Adding a bouncy band to every desk will do just that. My students will get to rest their feet to be more comfortable, or quietly bounce their feet to get out some energy.

I am also requesting two wobble stools for students who find sitting still particularly difficult.

Wobble stools allow children to move, which relaxes the right side of the brain and makes it easier to focus. My ultimate goal is that every student in my room is comfortable and ready to learn. I believe the addition of bouncy bands and wobble stools will do just that!
