My math students are a diverse group of 6th graders living in Cleveland. Many students do not have the means to buy basic school supplies.Many of the students are just returning back to in person school after a year of online learning. Some students returned last school briefly.
Students are excited and nervous to return to school this fall.
There are many new changes that students will encounter this school year.
These students are looking forward to seeing their friends and working with them on new and exciting math projects.
We will discover new ways to model math and discuss how math is relevant to their world. They love hands-on, engaging and challenging projects. They enjoy working together to solve problems. In our math class students are challenged to find multiple ways to solve math problems.
By working with their peers, students learn different ways to solve problems. These students take great pride in displaying their work.
My Project
Many students with anxiety and ADHD find it difficult to sit in regular classroom desk. These students have nervous hand and feet movements. The wobbly stools, stadium seats and the resistance bands will allow students to fidget and wiggle in their seats while learning. These flexible seats will allow the students to focus on learning tasks.
Many students are returning to in school learning, after almost a year of at home learning, the flexible seating will allow energetic students to feel comfortable and improve concentration on lessons.
Students be able to wiggle and fidget quietly while learning.
