My Project
Teaching high functioning 4th grade students with autism requires a lot of inspirational and soothing breaks in between the instruction time. I am fairly new to this and my classroom does not have enough play/skill building material that could help my fantastic students to relax and ease their minds and self regulate during these important "Calm me down moments". I have learned in the past two years that giving my students breaks not only provide them with opportunities to choose their items of preference but it also teaches them to be accountable for the items while playing with them and placing them back into the spaces where they belong.
By donating to our break projects you will help my students to regain their peace and increase their ability to focus and pay attention to the ongoing academic requirements throughout the day.
I can say with a certainty that it will make a difference in my students' daily routine to go to a happy place even if it is for short daily fidget breaks.
