FGMS Lacrosse

Help me give my students lacrosse nets and sticks, so my school can start a newly formed lacrosse team. With such an expensive sport, most of my students can not afford proper equipment to play.

My Project

I plan to take on the challenge of creating a lacrosse team at my middle school. This initiative will allow me to develop leadership, program planning, and community engagement skills beyond the traditional classroom. It will also allow me to connect with students in a new way, supporting their social-emotional development, teamwork, and physical health.

Through this experience, I’ll apply what I’ve learned about student motivation, equity, and building inclusive environments.

Lacrosse is a sport that may be new to many of our students, so I’ll focus on making the team accessible, offering beginner clinics, seeking out affordable equipment options, and partnering with local organizations for support and mentorship. I’ll also use my classroom strategies, like clear communication and differentiated coaching, to support players at all levels.

My students will benefit by gaining a new outlet for self-expression, discipline, and belonging. For many, this team may be their first experience with organized sports, leadership roles, or working toward a common goal. Creating a lacrosse team will help me grow as a well-rounded educator and provide students with valuable opportunities both on and off the field. We need all of the major lacrosse items like a full lacrosse set, goals, and more.
