Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our K–2 classrooms, our students are learning more than just reading and math—they’re also learning how to identify and manage their emotions, build friendships, and develop empathy. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a critical foundation for success both in school and in life, and high-quality books are powerful tools for teaching these essential skills.
This project will provide our students with a diverse collection of SEL picture books that explore feelings, self-regulation, kindness, problem-solving, and resilience in ways that are age-appropriate and engaging.
From stories about calming down when frustrated to books about understanding differences and showing compassion, these titles will help children connect with characters and learn strategies they can use in their own lives.
In addition to the books, this project will fund a dedicated bookshelf to house our SEL library—a special space where students can easily access these resources and teachers can pull books for lessons and discussions.
Your support will help us create a calm, supportive, and emotionally aware environment for our youngest learners. Thank you for helping us grow hearts as well as minds!
