My Students
My students put a bundle of joy in my heart. Everyday, I celebrate with them their uniqueness, their joy, their creativity, their curiosity, and their sensitivity. I always encourage my students to believe in themselves, work hard and be the best they can be!
My students ranges from kinder to 3rd grade who have special needs with moderate-severe disabilities.
They are a mixed of talents and abilities. Each has his/her own unique way of learning and each come from families with diverse backgrounds. My students have some challenges they encounter every day. Improvements does not come easy. But when success happens, even the simplest one, this small success is worth celebrating for!
The spark of success makes a difference in the way how my students respond to their environment...positive interactions! My students feel happy, included and connected!
My Project
I believe that the emotional experience children have in the classroom is critical to their engagement in the learning process. If students are engaged and are having fun while learning, they will feel a part of the learning community, and they will learn naturally.
My main goal this school year is to support all my diverse students feel included and connected to one another using sensory play and through Read Aloud.
Creating and building together with magna-Qubix85, magnetic tiles, kinetic sand and play dough supports my students social and emotional skills such as sharing, taking turns and enjoying being with their friends. This activity (something they can actually do by themselves) makes them feel competent and proud of their accomplishments. This feeling of success makes my students happy, included and connected.
The books for read aloud encourages diversity and inclusion. Through some accommodation I will use, my students will learn to appreciate differences and recognize similarities among them. They will see themselves in the books and learn to love and be proud of who they are!
