My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are an inspiration!
My school is considered Title I, meaning the majority of our students come from low-income households or even worse poverty situations.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
My students are positive and eager learners who benefit from hands on opportunities.
My Project
This creative building project helps students tap into their social-emotional learning through the use of Lego! Students are first tasked with building a duck (without directions) that will end up being as unique as they are!
We can then have the conversation about our uniqueness and individuality as it pertains to learning and creating in the art classroom.
The Six Lego challenge is a researched based, FUN activity to help students actually visualize their uniqueness and diversity among their peers in the classroom. This is sure to be a collaborative learning opportunity that students will not forget!
More than half of students from low‑income households
