This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It has now occurred to me that many of my students are just struggling to get their day started. What better way to make their day a bit easier than to have a coffee and snack bar for them to fill up their cups and enjoy a small snack? Often students come to school with no breakfast, maybe just to busy or more likely they just do not have food at home. So if having a coffee maker and bins to throw some grab-and-go snacks available to them - they might just feel there is hope.

I allow my students to eat and drink in class - and - having a place set up to make their beverages or grab snack would just make their day a bit better.

It might be a cup of coffee or ice added to their sweet tea to make their morning a bit brighter - perhaps smoothing over a disagreement it their parent. Maybe their stomach just needs that small something to make it to lunch or dinner. I would love to give my students that opportunity.
