Feel the Beat: Music Meets Art

My Project

Music in the art classroom helps with the creative process. While my students enter the art room, I play music from my phone to get them them fired up and excited to create. While they are working, I have noticed that music calms them down and helps my students get in the “flow”. They are more focused on their pieces and talk less. Music draws out their creativity and helps my students to center themselves.

The portable Bluetooth speaker will allow music to be heard from across the room and improve the listening experience compared to hearing music from a phone.

I want the music to inspire students to create and that can be enhanced by hearing the beats and the songs. My students will have a chance to hear different music genres and this can ignite their imagination.

For my students who have tantrums and anger, listening to music while making art will help them to develop self-regulation strategies, and this will support their social and emotional development.
