My Project

As the school counselor at a 100% Title I public charter school—where many students have not previously had access to consistent counseling services—I am committed to creating a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe learning environment. My goal is to foster a school culture where every student feels seen, heard, and supported, and where they can express their feelings without fear of judgment.

Our school serves a diverse population of students who face a wide range of life challenges.

Many are being raised by extended family members or are navigating housing instability. These experiences can have a significant impact on their emotional and mental well-being. Recognizing this, I am intentionally selecting resources—such as therapeutic books, SEL-focused games, and interactive tools—to build a strong foundation for emotional support and healing within our school community.

These resources will not only empower students to understand and manage their emotions but also help staff foster meaningful relationships that support students’ growth. Together, we can create a school environment where all students have the tools and trust they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
