This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our elementary school is located in a neighborhood widely recognized as a food desert. Many of our families struggle to access healthy, affordable food options, making our school’s snack program a vital source of nutrition for our students. As the Wellness Center Coordinator, I have seen how a well-timed, nourishing snack can make all the difference in a child’s ability to concentrate, stay energized, and feel supported throughout the school day.

With limited access to fresh foods in our community, we want to ensure that every student has the chance to enjoy nutritious snacks while at school.

These small but significant nutritional boosts can improve children’s physical well-being, emotional regulation, and academic engagement. Unfortunately, our existing snack supply is running low, and we need your help to keep this essential program going.
