My Students

My students bring me so much joy!! Having had the opportunity to build relationships with them as an undergraduate 3rd-grade student teacher, I was able to learn about their lives and their stories. These are students who represent lower SES but embody courage and strength. They come to school be it virtually or in-person wanting to learn, grow, and have fun no matter the scarcity of resources or supplies. These are students whose backpacks arent just filled with school materials, but also figurative challenges and struggles of inequity and inequality.

Though the disparity remains true for lack of resources and materials, my kids are rockstars; ready to root themselves in education no matter the challenge!

Having worked as a student-teacher (3rd Grade EIP) I was exposed to all students throughout the grade level. What I found as a result of my interactions last school year is that my students desired ingenuity and spontaneity. They love being exposed to different means and modes of instruction and creativity. The goal for the 2021-2022 academic year is to provide an academic learning environment that is safe, creative, and challenging.

My Project

I begin class every day by reminding my students that "Anything they want is already theirs, the question is, How hard are they willing to work to get it?" Like anyone, we work most often for self gratitude and reward, this request is twofold. Serving a title 1 population resources are often scarce and some students sadly do go without.

The snacks and treats donated will be used between all three of my math classes (approximately 20 kids in each), as motivation and reward as well as a classroom pantry for those in need
